Parking at Altitude

There is a limited number of onsite vehicle parking spaces at Altitude. There isn’t sufficient onsite parking to provide parking for every guest. These spaces are for the exclusive use of lodge guests only. The cost in 2024 is $65 per vehicle, per night. Access to the spaces is STRICTLY on a first come, first served basis and MUST be pre-booked and pre-paid before arrival (payment is required at the time of making the booking). For further details, call our Reservations Office on 1800 610 348.

It is a condition of use of the onsite car parking that you accept responsibility for digging your vehicle out, should it become buried by a large snowfall. Shovels are available from reception. If your vehicle is 2WD, you MUST ensure chains are fitted at all times when parked onsite.

If there is no available onsite parking space at Altitude, and you want to drive your own vehicle to the snow, there are 2 options:

  1. Drive to Jindabyne and use one of the shuttle services to bring you to the lodge. There are services which use their own vehicles for the shuttle ride and some that will provide a fully-qualified driver to drive you up in your vehicle (taking it back to Jindabyne and then returning with it on your departure). Snowlink Shuttle and Snow Connect provide a variety of shuttle services, including airport transfers from Cooma and Canberra

  2. Park in the Ski Tube car park at Bullocks Flat. Catch the Ski Tube to Perisher and our 4WD will collect you from the Ski Tube Station at Perisher (service available between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm ONLY). Call Altitude on (02) 6457 5341 as you alight at the Perisher Valley Skitube Station. An “open” return trip from Bullocks Flat to Perisher (valid for 14 days) costs around $100 Adult, $60 Child (14 years and under). National Park entry fees are included in the cost of your Skitube ticket.

Equipment Hire

There are literally hundreds of outlets between your place and Altitude, where you can hire every imaginable piece of equipment and clothing for your ski holiday.

If you want to cut down on the amount of equipment you have to bring with you to Altitude, you can always hire from the Rhythm Smiggins hire outlet, next to the car park, directly opposite the Smiggins lifts. Altitude guests receive a discount on Rhythm’s retail prices (make sure you mention you’re staying at Altitude when you make you booking). The added advantage of “on snow” hire is that, should your equipment require adjustment (or replacement because it doesn’t quite fit), you just have ski down to the hire centre and it will be sorted out in no time, with no fuss. Phone the hire centre on (02) 6457-5224. For pricing details Click Here

Snow Safety

Being safety conscious will ensure that not only you, but your fellow skiers, will have an enjoyable experience at the snow. Here are some safety issues for your information.

  1. Chains: Unless you’re driving a 4WD, you are required to carry chains whenever entering the Koscuiszko National park. Chains can be hired from numerous outlets in Jindabyne, Cooma, Berridale and other local hirers. Make sure you have practiced fitting the chains BEFORE you enter the National Park.
  2. Clothing: Dress for the possibly variable alpine weather conditions. Wear insulating clothes on the inside and wind/water proof clothing on the outside. Beanies, warm thin long woollen socks and waterproof gloves are highly recommended as essential.
  3. Sun Protection: Despite the colder climate, sunburn is a serious risk at the snow. Make sure you wear a high SPF factor sunscreen.
  4. Toboggans: Toboggans are prohibited on any Perisher slope. National Parks and Wildlife provides a toboggan area beside the main Perisher car park on Pipers Ridge. Only ever use a moulded plastic toboggan. Don’t use plastic bags.
  5. Alpine Responsibility Code: Perisher has instituted a Code of Conduct for all users of the resort’s facilities. Its basic message is “Ski and Ride with Care”. There are 10 points in the Code. As failure to observe the code may result in cancellation of your ticket, it is in your best interest to read and know the Code before you hit the slopes.
